Our history
Social Impact never looked so good
We are an ethical slow fashion brand. This means that we believe that authenticity and sustainability are the key to empowering rural communities and driving social change. Amor & Rosas is an ethical fashion brand that brings together modern designs with touches of one-of-a-kind Mexican handmade embroidery. Our pieces showcase the ancestral and authentic art of Mexican culture combined with modernity and style. High quality is our main priority. We operate under a social impact model and a set of environmental sustainability practices, which are key components of our business model.
Sustainability
We are constantly innovating to reduce our ecological impact. We believe in sustainable sourcing and being kind to the earth. We use leftover fabric and work with eco-friendly fabrics such as hemp and recycled cotton. Our high-quality garments are designed to last for years, thus reducing their environmental footprint. We have named our social and ecological practices, our conscious principles. We invite you to read the descriptions of our products on our labels and tags where you will find these principles and materials under which they were made. Since artisans put their hands and heart into each garment, we find it important that each piece is signed by the creator. On our labels you will also find the artisan who created the embroidery, the area where he works and the techniques he used.
Our principles of social impact
- Transparent processes, open flow of information from suppliers to consumers.
- Labeling includes details of fabrics and artisans.
- Comply with environmental standards and prefer sustainable alternatives whenever possible.
- Pay a 20% premium over the market rate to our craft suppliers.
- At least 20% of the production cost for artisans.
The people behind our clothes
Our social mission is the reason Amor & Rosas exists. Today we work with 84 artisans in 7 different towns in Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Guerrero and Chiapas. Each one of them is an expert in different embroidery and weaving techniques. We work closely with them using participatory design: where they add their experience and we add our knowledge in fashion design to create unique collaborative pieces.
