About Amor & Rosas

I started Amor & Rosas with the dream of creating unique and different pieces, ethically produced in Mexico. Using the ancestral knowledge of confection that the Mexican artisans possess, I wanted to make sure their talents are recognized and fairly paid. For me, the real luxury is the history, technique, and justice behind every piece of clothing.  – Laura Melendrez, Founder

Traditionally, the fashion industry is produced far away from its market, which allows it to ignore the conditions that workers who create those products are subject to and the damage done to the environment. Additionally, traditional brands produce gargantuan volumes without making sure of an existing demand for those clothes; they only consider the financial gain, and those products that are not sold are then sent to underdeveloped countries.

Lastly, the traditional fashion industry constantly creates new trends so that the consumer feels the need to always be in fashion. This traditional industrial form creates an unmeasurable negative impact for people and the planet and is the reason we work to urgently revolutionize the way we consume fashion.

Social impact is not just a strategy for us, it’s our reason of being. Today, 70% of our pieces are touched by the hands of artists of Mexican hand embroidery, preserving traditional techniques meanwhile we innovate in design. We produce locally in our workshop at Santa Maria la Ribera, Mexico City, ensuring just conditions and responsible processes.

At Amor & Rosas, we create luxury with a soul: unique and authentic pieces, with character. We strive to continually evolve and revolutionize the way fashion is done. We are proud of our journey thus far, but we know that there is still much to do. Our commitment is clear: to decide with responsibility each day and become the best version of ourselves.
